A Calmer Way to Move

Downsizing and Moving Help from Start to Finish

Most of my clients who are moving like to start well before the move is on the calendar. We go through your things together, decide what comes with you, and work in phases, starting with what you won't miss, like holiday decorations, so it never feels overwhelming.

I'm Denise Stalsberg, a NAPO® Professional Organizer serving Scottsdale and the Greater Phoenix Area. I pack so the boxes make sense on the other end, I'm there on moving day, and I stay until your new place feels like yours.

Pro Tips

Moving Tips from a Professional Organizer

A few things I've learned from moves around the Valley, the kind most people only find out after something goes wrong.

How a Move Comes Together

From the First Sort to Your First Night Home

Every move is different, but most follow the same rhythm. We start early, take it in phases, and by the time the truck pulls up, the hard decisions are already behind you.

1. Sort in Phases

We start with the rooms you use least and work toward the ones you use every day. You decide what comes with you, and I'll connect you with estate sale and consignment partners for the things that don't.

2. Stage and List

If you're selling, I'll clear and style rooms using what you already own and work alongside your realtor so the house is ready for photos and showings.

3. Pack with a Plan

Everything is packed room by room and labeled for where it goes in the new home, so nothing ends up in the wrong place.

4. Moving Day and Settling In

I'm there on moving day to direct the movers and answer questions, and I stay through unpacking until the beds are made, the kitchen works, and it feels like home.

Downsizing and Moving Questions

How Early Should I Start Before a Move?

The earlier, the better. Starting well before the move is on the calendar lets us work in phases instead of rushing at the end.

Do You Move Furniture or Drive the Truck?

No. I declutter, pack, unpack, and organize. For the heavy lifting, I connect you with movers from my business partner network, most of them through NAPO, so you're working with people I know and trust.

Can You Help Stage My Home to Sell?

Yes. I can clear and arrange rooms so they feel open and inviting, using what you already own wherever we can, so buyers can picture themselves living there.

What Happens to the Things I Don't Take with Me?

You always have the final say. We'll talk through donating, selling, or letting go, and I take up to a carload of donations with me each visit.

Can You Help My Parent Downsize?

Yes. Senior moves are a big part of my work. I go at their pace and help with the hard decisions. If you live out of state, I can work with your parent in person and keep you updated along the way.

How Much Does Moving Help Cost?

Organizing sessions start at $75 an hour, and your first phone consultation is free. We'll talk through the size of your move so you know what to expect.
